Iraq's Oil Sector Set to Grow: Export Recovery Today, Expansion to 10 Million Bpd by 2030

2026-10-03

Iraq's oil sector is entering a period of significant growth. According to the Ministry of Oil, crude exports have recovered to around 2.6 million barrels per day, supported by expanded alternative shipping and pipeline routes, including increased flows through the Kirkuk-Ceyhan pipeline and ship-to-ship transfers outside the Strait of Hormuz. At the same time, Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi has directed officials to develop a strategy targeting nearly 10 million barrels per day in production by 2030, with plans to upgrade oil infrastructure, expand export facilities, and grow output from fields in the Kurdistan Region. This scale of recovery and planned expansion signals rising activity across Iraq's oil and gas value chain, from exploration and drilling to refining and EPC projects, and with it, growing demand for dependable logistics. Moving drilling machinery, oilfield equipment, pumps, valves, and other heavy industrial cargo into Iraq requires specialized handling, careful planning, and coordinated customs and inland transport. Almas Group, an Iraqi freight forwarding company, supports this sector end to end, helping oil and gas suppliers and contractors keep equipment and materials moving reliably as Iraq's energy industry continues to grow.
